It sounds like the Canadian Trade Association and the Research firm hired by the media should have followed the codes of standards and guidelines of AAPOR and the old CASRO regarding the public releasing of data. Beyond that I have grave issues when conducting Political Polls due to quality of samples, method of interviewing, margins of error, and a bunch of other problems like weather on day of election, size and demographics of turnout, and political party affiliations and registrations, etc., etc.
