Nielsen ditches paper diaries. EU data protection laws. Palantir adds $880 mil. (RBDR 01.06.2016)

1) At year-end 2015, Nielsen eliminated its paper diaries for demographic data collection in America’s top 31 TV markets.

2) The European Union hopes to approve new data protections laws this month that, if approved, would go into effect in early 2018.

3) In what might represent the single largest fundraiser by a research organization, Palantir is $880 million richer and is now valued at $2 billion.
